Maud Hart Award

As of November 20th we have 20 students who have made the judges list! Awesome job Blossoms Readers! Let’s get some more judges on the list!

Maud Hart Lovelace was a Minnesota author, born and raised in Mankato, at the turn of the twentieth century. She loved reading and started writing stories when she was young. Through her Betsy/Tacy series, Ms. Lovelace has left a lasting history of Minnesota and thus has been honored with this award. The Maud Hart Lovelace Book Award is a Minnesota children’s choice book award. Its purpose is to encourage recreational reading among school age children. The nominated titles each year are fiction works. Students in grades 3-8 are encouraged to read at least three of the nominated works. Voting for their favorite book takes place in the spring by students who have read and passed a short quiz for three or more of these books. All libraries in Minnesota are encouraged to participate. Each year’s winner is announced close to Maud Hart Lovelace’s birthday in April!
